Beyond the Blueprint — Site Meeting Quiz

Welcome to this online quiz.

My prayer for you is that this exercise will help you identify one or two key areas in your life to focus on developing for the next four to six weeks. Then do the quiz again and track your progress.

This quiz comes from the book Beyond the Blueprint, which is available from the ChurchAlive online store.

The questions and outcomes will make more sense if you read the book, so that you understand what is intended for each of the 12 sections. It uses the analogy of God as the architect, who has a blueprint for your life. We call this quiz a 'Site Meeting', where the architect, owner and contractors check on progress throughout a building project. If it's a new building, they inspect what has been built. If it's an upgrade or remodelling, then they check the addition or installation. If there has been a storm, they check the damage, and make plans for demolition and rebuilding. Your answers are confidential and will only be viewed by you.

As you work through each of the questions in this quiz, visualise your life as a building in progress, and Jesus as the owner and architect. Inspect each of the 12 areas and ask God how each area compares with his Blueprint plans for your life. If you are unsure about what to do with an area that you feel is not okay, ask God to give you wisdom so that you can build well.

The key to progress is not the review; it is the application.

As you review each area of your life, refer to Jesus' teaching in the Bible for God's wisdom on the best way to build. But more than knowing the right thing to do, the most important element is obedience. We need to put his teaching into practice.

Take an honest look at the 'building work' that is taking place in your life and choose a symbol that reflects how the building work is going. How well does it reflect the Blueprint that God has for your life?

Reflect

Compare the reality to the Blueprint. What is looking good? Which areas need attention? Why did you give yourself this rating? What do you feel God the Architect would recommend?

Now choose one or two area(s) to celebrate, where you can see growth and God's grace. Write one sentence next to this area about what you are celebrating.

b. Needs attention

Carefully think and pray about each area where you are not satisfied with your score. What specific steps do you feel God wants you to take? Choose one or two area(s) that need attention. Write one sentence about why you feel that it needs attention. Then bring these areas to God in prayer. If needed, confess any sin.

The key to building a great house is OBEDIENCE. Sometimes it may be a small adjustment that is needed. Sometimes it is a major step of faith or even a total realignment that is needed. Blessings always follow obedience. Don't get discouraged if you feel it is difficult, or even if it is taking longer than you thought it would. Remember that this 'building project' is a lifelong process. Every time we obey, it is like putting one more brick into the structure of a solid house, built on the foundation of Jesus.

c. Be specific
Set a date to achieve this goal. How will you measure that you have achieved this goal?

d. Define the steps
Create an action plan on how you will achieve this goal. Write down details about how you will work on this area. Remember a goal without a plan is just a wish. (one step per line)

Repeat

Now that you have identified this area, and the steps towards your goal, remain focussed on your goal daily. Consider choosing a picture or a symbol, or writing the goal in a place where you will see it daily. If there is a Bible verse that accompanies your goal, read it aloud every day.
